Continuing with the special mission of J&K Police to eradicate the drug menace from the society, based on specific information, the special team of District Police Kupwara has achieved another success by arresting a notorious drug peddler and recovered 3.5kgs of Charas from his possession.
While briefing the media about the achievement during the special drive and working of special team, SSP Kupwara, Shri Shamsheer Hussain has given the details of arrested person and recovery made from him. He said based on specific input, special Naka was laid at Surigam Crossing and a drug peddler with 3.5 kgs of Charas was recovered. The arrested person has been identified as Mohd Latief Chohan S/o Jalal-u-din Chohan R/o Surigam Lolab. Case FIR No. 61/2017 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Sogam and investigation is in progress. SSP further added that during the special drive against drug peddlers, the Special team of District Police Kupwara has achieved major success by arresting 35 accused persons involved in drug peddling/narcotic smugglers including four cross LoC narcotic smugglers and cases under various sections of NDPS Act. has been registered. So far, 19 Kgs of Charas, 2 Kgs of Heroine, 4.5 Kgs of Brown Sugar, huge quantity of codeine and huge quantitites of capsules.
