On  the directions of  Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara,  several teams  today conducted  market checking  and intensified anti-polythene drive across the district  Kupwara  after  imposing ban on  Polythen bags /  Products  throughout the District by the  District  Administration  as accordance with the directions passed by the Hon’ble  High Court. The teams headed by concerned  Tehsildars,   and BDO’s assigned the job by the District Magistrate, Kupwara,conducted  market checking. During the course of inspection, the teams seized 55.500 Kgs of Polythenes bags from the erring traders , who were found  involvement in  keeping selling  and using the  polythene bags in day to day business. The erring shopkeepers/ traders were penalized    Rs.17100/= by the  checking squads on the spot. The report  was  forwarded to the  District Magistrate, Kupwara  for  further necessary action under rules. It is important to add that  an intensive  anti-polythene  has been launched  in District Kupwara on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, for  making the District Polythene  free in near  future. Local  Traders, Shopkeepers,  Vendors, NGOs, Media  fraternity has been urged to extend necessary cooperation in this effort.
