KUPWARA POLICE RECOVERED 6 KGS CHARAS, 200 GM BROWN SUGAR AND 05 ACCUSED ARRESTED.

Continuing with the last year special drive of J&K Police to eradicate the drug menace from the society, based on specific information, special team of Kupwara police has achieved another big success by arresting of 5 notorious drug peddlers from Lolab and Karnah area. The drug pedlers have been identified as Mumtaz Ahmad Shah S/O Mehboob Shah R/O Prada Karnah and Amreez Ahmad Badan S/O Mohd Sarwar R/O Amrohi Karnah and recovered 200 Gms of Brown Sugar from their possession. During an another action by special team,03 notorious drug peddlers namely Gh Mustafa Mughal S/O Mohd Munawar Mughal R/O Gratnard Khurhama, Shabir Ahmad Chohan S/O Gh Mohd Chohan R/O Dardpora Lolab & Zahoor Ahmad Lone S/o Ghulam Mohd Lone R/O Sogam have been arrested and 6 Kgs of Charas have been recovered from their possession.Cases under NDPS Act have been registered at P/S Karnah, P/S Sogam and P/S Lalpora and the investigation is in progress.
During last year special drive against drug peddlers, 54 notorious drug pedlers were arrested and 31 Kgs of Charas, 2 Kgs of Heroine, 4.5 Kgs of Brown Sugar, huge quantity of codeine and banned drugs have been recovered from the possession of arrested drug peddlers. A cross LoC narcotic smugglers module was also been busted and four notorious crossed LoC narcotic smugglers were arrested. Many addicted youth along with their parents have been counselled and their de-addictions is being arranged at de-addiction centre at Police Hospital PCR Srinagar.
Local residents of the District have eulogized the role of Police for launching effective campaign against drug peddlers and sale of psychotropic substances which according to locals are adversely affecting and ruining the future of the youth of the area. They have also express their gratitude to the J&K Police Chief Shri S. P vaid under whose directions and guidance J&K Police is committed to eradicate the drug menace from the society. District Police Kupwara has appealed the local residents to come forward and help the police to eradicate this menace from the society as this anti-drug drive shall continue in the year 2018 to make the society drug free.
