DDC Kupwara reviews implementation of PC & PNDT Act

District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting of District Advisory Committee to review the implementation of Pre-Conception and Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC&PNDT).

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue , CMO , DIO , Medical Superintendent DH Handwara, various social workers and other concerned.

Threadbare discussion was held on various aspects of the Act including issuance of certificates, proper monitoring, enhancing accountability in order to prevent violation of the Act.

The DDC Kupwara directed the members of concerned committee to ensure regular monitoring of the USG clinics for ensuring strict compliance with the provisions of the Act. Moreover, meeting was informed that serious measures need to be initiated in the context of the Act to correct the glaring imbalances in sex ratio.
